A church teleprompter setup typically uses a tablet on a pulpit stand as the prompter, a booth device running Studio to push the script and send cues, and optionally a floor confidence monitor. Devices pair by QR code and connect directly, so nothing needs installing and there is no account.

The tablet you already have, clamped to the pulpit edge on an adjustable arm. This covers most churches and it is where you should start. No glass, no rig, no licence.
For a speaker who moves around rather than standing at a pulpit. Any browser-capable screen at the front edge of the stage. It shows the script strip, the countdown, and the cue band from the booth.
Only worth it if you stream every service to a significant remote audience and you want genuine on-axis eye contact on camera. Turn on mirror mode. Overkill for most in-person congregations, and be honest with yourself about which you are.
Pulpit tablet for a stationary speaker, floor monitor for someone who moves, glass rig only if you are streaming and mean it.
Paste the order of service in. Mark each part with two hash marks so it becomes a jump point. Set the branding once and every screen inherits it.
Show the code on Studio, scan it from the pulpit tablet and the floor monitor, and pick a role for each. About thirty seconds per device.
Do this under stage lighting, not booth lighting. It looks completely different, and the number you picked in a dim booth will be too small.
Send a cue. Start the countdown. Jump a section. Confirm the booth's actual phone reaches the stage reliably, not a different phone that happened to be nearer.
Brightness to maximum and go up a font size. Bigger text survives glare far better than smaller text at high contrast, which is not obvious until you have watched it happen.
Angle it down and away. This is a physical problem and no setting will fix it.
It shows a reconnect banner and one tap brings it back, syncing to wherever everyone else is. Test the booth-to-stage link during a rehearsal rather than discovering its limits on a Sunday.
They can paste them in themselves in about a minute. No account, nothing to provision, nothing for you to do at 8am.
At minimum, a tablet and a stand for the pulpit. Add a floor confidence monitor if the speaker moves around. A glass rig is only worth it if you stream to a significant remote audience.
Run Studio on a booth device, pair the stage screens with a QR scan, and from then on the booth drives speed, section jumps, cues, and the countdown from a phone.
Only if the screen sits behind a glass beam-splitter. A pulpit tablet or a floor monitor read directly does not need it.
Script loaded and sectioned, font size and brightness checked under stage lighting rather than booth lighting, the booth phone paired and tested from the booth, mirror mode set correctly, and a printed backup.
The device shows a reconnect banner and one tap syncs it back to the current position. The prompter also works offline if you have installed it to the device beforehand.
