The honest summary
Everyone in this category does roughly the same thing: they scroll text. Where they differ is what happens when your production gets bigger than one person looking at one screen.

Free, fast, no account, and it has been the default recommendation for years for good reason. It scrolls text at a speed you set, and that is the whole product. No sections, no voice pacing, no recording, no remote. If that is genuinely all you need, it remains a perfectly reasonable choice and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

ScrollCue is browser-first, which is better if your devices are mixed and worse if you specifically wanted a native app.
Speakflow and Teleprompter.com
Both are browser-based and both are more polished than CuePrompter. Both also put the useful features behind a monthly subscription, and Teleprompter.com watermarks recordings on the free tier. If you record every week that subscription may well be worth it. If you record occasionally, a $4.99 day pass with nothing to cancel is a better fit, which is exactly why the day pass exists.
