ScrollCue mirror mode flips the script text horizontally for glass beam-splitter teleprompter rigs. It is free and can be toggled from the interface or from any paired remote device.
Why the text has to be backwards
A beam-splitter rig sits a piece of angled glass in front of the lens. Your screen faces up into it, the glass reflects the words back at you, and the camera sees straight through. The reflection flips everything horizontally, which means the screen underneath has to display the script already flipped for it to arrive at your eyes reading correctly. That is all mirror mode does, and it is why every glass rig on earth needs it.
Turn it on when
- You are using a beam-splitter rig or a teleprompter hood.
- Your phone or tablet is the panel sitting under the glass.
- Any of the common rigs from NEEWER, Desview, Glide Gear, GVM, and the rest. They all work the same way.
Leave it off when
- You are reading straight off a phone, tablet, or laptop with no glass in the way.
- You have a floor confidence monitor with no reflector.
- If you can read your own screen, you do not want mirror mode. That is the test.
Toggling it from the booth
If a phone is paired as a remote, mirror mode is one of the things it can flip. Handy when the rig is on a boom or up a ladder and nobody wants to climb up there to fix a setting.
