Every feature you actually need.

The free features work forever and are a complete prompter on their own. Pro is the production layer, for when you are recording, streaming, or running a room full of screens.

Quick answer

ScrollCue is free for the core prompter: smooth scroll, script markup, section jumps, presenter notes, mirror mode, cue line, red dim, and theming. Pro adds recording with the script burned in, camera and screen backgrounds, Voice Follow, Event Mode multi-device, and a chroma key OBS output.

Free — no account, no expiry

Everything here works the second you open the app. There is no trial clock and nothing to sign up for.

Scrolling and pacing

  • Smooth scroll — GPU-accelerated, with speed easing so it ramps in and out instead of jerking. Live, Normal, and Fast presets, plus a fine slider from 10 to 240 px/s.
  • Scroll wheel control — change speed mid-roll on desktop without stopping.
  • Word-accurate highlight — the current word tracks in reading order as it crosses the cue line, even with mixed text sizes.
  • Live remaining time — recalculates as you change speed, so you always know how long is left.
  • Drag to scrub — grab the script and move through it. Keyboard shortcuts for play, pause, and fullscreen.

Script and structure

  • Rich markup — bold, italic, bigger, smaller, coloured text, section markers, and presenter notes. Full syntax reference.
  • Section jumps — mark a heading with ## and jump to it instantly, with a live indicator showing where you are.
  • Presenter notes — anything in double brackets floats above the script for you only. Never appears in a recording.
  • In-place editor — crossfades over the stage rather than opening a modal, with a markup toolbar and a word count.
  • Import — paste, upload a .txt or .md file, or drop in a Google Drive share link.

Display

  • Cue line — arrow, line, or glow, positioned anywhere between 15% and 75% of the screen height.
  • Mirror mode — flips the text for beam-splitter rigs. More on mirror mode.
  • Red dim mode — adjustable strength, for dark stages where a white screen would blind everyone.
  • Full theming — background and text colour pickers with presets and a custom wheel. The browser chrome and notch colour follow along.
  • Zen mode — thirty seconds of rolling untouched and every control fades away, leaving the words and a progress hairline.
  • Wake lock — the screen will not sleep on you halfway through a read.

Everything persists

  • Your script, colours, speed, font, cue position, and every other preference survive a restart.
  • All of it is stored in the browser on your device, not on a server.
  • Installable — add it to your home screen and it launches like a native app and works offline. More on offline use.

Pro

Available as a day pass or an annual plan, $4.99/day or $99/year.

Recording and camera

  • One-tap takes — your camera appears behind the script and recording starts immediately. You read straight into the lens. More on recording.
  • Script composited into the video — the words you are reading are burned into the recording with the current word highlighted, which makes finding your place in the edit trivial.
  • Takes manager — opens the moment you stop, showing duration and file size. Save or delete. Everything stays local.
  • Camera and screen backgrounds — read over your own camera to practise eye contact, or over a shared screen so you can present along with your slides. More on backgrounds.

Control and production

  • Voice Follow — the script follows your voice, fuzzy-matching what you say so accents and stumbles do not throw it. More on Voice Follow.
  • Event Mode — Studio, up to ten teleprompters, confidence monitors, and phone remotes, all paired by QR and connected directly. More on Event Mode.
  • Confidence monitor — a live script strip that follows whoever is driving, with a countdown and a cue band. More on confidence monitors.
  • OBS output — a chromeless chroma key window you can key out in OBS. More on OBS output.

Frequently asked questions

Does ScrollCue work without an account?

Yes, and there is no account system at all. Free features work immediately. Pro access is a code you paste in, tied to the name you paid with.

What is Voice Follow?

Speech recognition listens through your microphone and fuzzy-matches your spoken words against the script, then glides the text to wherever you actually are. It only moves while you are speaking. Skip ahead and it catches up. Voice Follow is a Pro feature.

What is the difference between smooth scroll and Voice Follow?

Smooth scroll moves at a speed you set, which is what you want for rehearsal and for fixed-length reads. Voice Follow moves at your speed, which is what you want when recording. Plenty of people rehearse on smooth scroll and record on Voice Follow.

Can several devices share one script?

Yes, in Event Mode. Studio pushes the script to every connected device with one tap, and anything joining late receives the script, the timer, the branding, and the current scroll position automatically.

Does the recording have a watermark?

No. Takes save straight to your device with no watermark and no branding. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
