The booth problem, solved properly
Every church media team has the same story. The speaker needs their notes. The notes are on a tablet on the pulpit. The tablet is now the one place nobody can get to without walking across the front during a service. So the volunteer who runs the booth spends forty-five minutes hoping nothing needs adjusting.
Event Mode is exactly this problem. The booth runs Studio. The pulpit tablet is a teleprompter. A screen at the front of the stage is a confidence monitor. All of it pairs by scanning a QR code, and from that point on the booth controls the script, the speed, the section jumps, the cues, and the countdown from a phone.
A Sunday, in order
Before doors
Paste the order of service into Studio. Welcome, announcements, sermon outline, closing. Mark each with ## so they become jump points. Set the branding once and every screen picks it up.
Pair the room
Scan Studio's QR code from the pulpit tablet, from the floor monitor, and from the booth phone. Three scans, about a minute. Nobody makes an account and nothing installs.
Push the script
One tap and every screen in the building has it. Push again if the announcements change between the first service and the second.
During the service
The booth jumps sections, nudges speed, and sends cues from a phone. Stand by. Two minutes. Wrap it up. The speaker sees them on the confidence monitor, in a bordered band that is impossible to miss and impossible to mistake for the script.
When the Wi-Fi wobbles
A dropped device shows a reconnect banner and one tap brings it back, syncing straight to wherever everyone else is. This is a church hall, so it was going to happen eventually.
Guest speakers
A visiting preacher arrives with their own notes and no interest in your systems. They paste those notes in, set their own font size, and read. There is nothing to set up in advance, no login to arrange, and nothing for your IT volunteer to provision on a Saturday night.

Why the serverless part matters to a church
Sermon notes are not neutral documents. Neither are announcements about someone's illness or a family in difficulty. ScrollCue devices talk directly to each other, so none of that passes through a company's servers, and since there is no account there is nothing held about your team either.

Do volunteers need training?
A few minutes. It runs in a browser tab with nothing to install. Paste the script, pick a font size, press play. Pairing another device is one QR scan.

Yes, because there is no account system. They paste their notes in and set their own font size. Nothing needs arranging in advance.
What happens if the Wi-Fi drops mid-service?
The device shows a reconnect banner with a one-tap retry, and when it comes back it syncs to the current position automatically. The prompter itself also works offline if you have installed it to the device.
Is our sermon script uploaded anywhere?
No. Scripts stay in the browser on your device, and paired devices connect directly to each other rather than through a server.
