Leeventi beam-splitter teleprompter rigs work with any teleprompter software that has mirror mode. ScrollCue is free, runs in a browser with no download, and works with any brand of rig.
Leeventi have been climbing the rankings for a straightforward reason: the rigs are well made and cost less than the equivalent from the older names. That is a real proposition and there is no catch to it.
The bundled software is the usual story. Every hardware brand in this category ships an app because they have to, not because they wanted to, and it shows in all of them. You are not obliged to use it, and you will almost certainly be happier if you do not.
One thing. Mirror mode. That is the only hard requirement a beam-splitter imposes, because the glass flips the reflection and the screen has to compensate. Everything else is preference.
So open a browser, load ScrollCue, turn on mirror mode, and read. It is free, nothing installs, and it works the same whichever brand is stamped on the aluminium.
The only setting you genuinely cannot skip.
The glass returns only part of the light. Every first-time rig owner thinks the screen is faulty. It is not.
48 to 56 px on a phone, 56 to 64 on a tablet. Legibility through glass is worse than legibility in your hand.
Once the device is behind the shroud you cannot reach it. This is what makes a rig workable solo.
Any teleprompter with mirror mode. ScrollCue is free, browser-based, and brand-agnostic.
No. The rig requires mirror mode and nothing else. Any teleprompter that has it will drive the hardware.
No. A beam-splitter only reflects part of the light back at you. Turn brightness to maximum and increase the font size.
Pair a phone as a remote. The device under the shroud is unreachable, which is true of every rig of this type.
