The advantage of a stock browser
A browser teleprompter is only as good as the browser under it. Pixel ships Chrome without a manufacturer layer on top, which means the speech and media APIs behave the way Google intended rather than the way Samsung or OnePlus decided to reinterpret them.
This is dull and it matters. Voice Follow depends on browser speech recognition, and stock Chrome is where that is most reliable.
Install it, skip the Play Store
Chrome will offer to add ScrollCue to your home screen. Accept, and it launches full screen with no address bar and works with no connection. Which is everything a Play Store app would give you, without the store, the download, or the trial clock.
Wake lock is on
The screen will not sleep on you mid-read, which on Android otherwise depends on your battery settings behaving.
Red dim for dark rooms
Pixel screens get very bright. Useful outdoors, a problem on a dark set.
Mirror mode for a rig
Pixel fits most compact beam-splitters. Turn it on and read through the glass.
Better as a remote
If you also have a laptop or tablet, use that as the prompter and let the Pixel drive it. A phone is a better remote than it is a reading surface.
